EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING

The key to a better life is a career that pays well and gives satisfaction. The key to a successful career is the training that prepares you to carry out your assigned tasks. The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville provides an Employment and Training Program that will enable public housing residents to seek and find fulfilling careers.

The best training offers certification that proves you have completed the course of study and have passed a test. The training program can assist you in entering and completing a certification program so you can start a fulfilling career.

You can learn what career you are best qualified for by taking a career assessment. The program also teaches other important career skills such as completing an application and creating a resume that will get you into the interview.

In addition to career assistance, the Employment and Training Program offers GED preparation and study sessions. Many of the programs offered in conjunction with local educational facilities require a high school diploma or GED.

Program participants can start a savings account that will enable them to receive matching funds on a 2 to 1 basis. Save $1,000 and receive $3,000 at the end of two years.
