OUR PUBLIC HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS:The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville provides affordable housing for approximately 1500 families in 11 public housing communities and scattered sites throughout Asheville. Each development hosts a variety of programs and opportunities for our residents. To learn more about any of the programs highlighted below, click the program name and find out about the great opprtunities they provide for our residents. The Employment & Training Program offers residents an opportunity to gain valuable work skills through on the job training programs, coordinated with local business and organizations. Residents can also utilize this program, in conjunction with A-B Tech, to obtain a GED or attend programs that lead to certifications in specialized industries like healthcare and business and hospitality. The Family Self-Sufficiency Program works closely with area business to assist our residents with a variety of skills that will last them a lifetime. Money management, credit building and basic home maintenence are just a few of the many programs available. The ultimate goal of the Family Self-Sufficiency program is to guide residents on the path to home ownership. Additionally, we offer special programs and services for the elderly and diabled residents through our Senior Services Programs. These are just a few of the opportunities our residents are offered to help them become an integral part of our community.
